Well that didn’t take long.   It was only a short time ago when we were writing about the launch of Twitter’s new Vine 6 second video sharing service, and now they have become the top free app on iOS as of Monday in the US.  We cannot say why Vine is not quite as popular elsewhere but we suspect that this is something that will be rectified with a bit of time.

Vine is a smart networking app that lets users share micro videos with each other,  and more recently added hashtags to the videos so that users can easily explore new content, just like you can in Twitter.   To use the hashtag search you simply need to check out the new explore section.  What’s more, to help showcase new content, they will now show you the fastest trending hashtags so you can see those videos that are increasing in popularity fast, rather than those hashtags with the most posts.

The creators of Vine Rus Yusupov and Bobby McKenna were understandably happy with their achievement and took to twitter to celebrate their success:

Of course, it hasn’t been without problems with porn been a problem early on, including one porn video accidentally being highlighted in Vine’s editors picks.  Problems aside though, the service has become a great success, especially with the ease that videos can be taken with the latest smartphones.

Have you used Vine?  What do you think?
